Working out fuel cost

Enter the trip distance, your car's fuel efficiency and the price per liter, and the calculator shows the fuel used and what the trip will cost. Choose the efficiency unit that matches your dashboard or manual.

For a shared drive, set the number of people to split the cost evenly. The estimate assumes steady driving; real use rises with heavy traffic, hills, air conditioning and a loaded car.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which efficiency unit should I pick?

Use whatever your car shows: km per liter and L per 100 km are common outside the US, while miles per gallon is used in the US and UK.

Does it work for miles per gallon?

Yes. It converts US miles per gallon to liters per 100 km internally, so the cost is based on liters and your price per liter.

Why is my real cost higher?

City traffic, hills, speed, air conditioning and extra weight all lower efficiency, so treat the result as a planning estimate.

Is my data saved?

No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
